SIGAL Construction Has Begun Building 1331 L Street, NW
Excavation is currently underway at the new, Class A office building at 1331 L Street, NW in Washington, DC. 1331 SIGAL Construction has finished providing preconstruction services to DRI Development Services, LLC and after successful negotiations broke ground on the project at the end of November. The project has been designed by The SmithGroup.

The base building is approximately 181,000 square feet on ten levels above-grade and also includes three levels of below-grade parking that make up 57,500 square feet. In addition to its curtainwall systems, a metal trellis and glass tower will adorn the building enhancing its profile in the DC skyline. DRI Development Services is currently finalizing negotiations with a high-profile client who currently plans on occupying floors two through five of the building.

1331 L Street, NW will not only improve the aesthetic quality to Washington's Central Business District, but it will also help make DC cleaner; the project is currently registered with the United States Green Building Council and is attempting a Leadership in Environmental and Energy Design (LEED) Silver rating under the Core & Shell 2.0 certification track.

Some of the "Green" features of the building will include: 30% more efficient plumbing systems, renewable energy-sourced electricity, a high percentage of regionally extracted and manufactured building materials, and low VOC emitting materials. Additionally, SIGAL will divert at least 75% of construction waste from landfills through recycling and reuse.

The project is currently scheduled for completion in late March of 2008.
