Arlington Green Games

The Arlington Green Games is one of many programs Arlington County has developed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions (GHG). The Green Games began in 2011 with a year-long competition for the commercial office sector to reduce energy use, waste, water, and set other environmental goals. The program is expanding to other sectors, beginning with a Retail Doors campaign for retailers.

The Green Games is part of the County's Fresh AIRE program—Arlington Initiative to Reduce Emissions. AIRE began in in 2007 with the goal of reducing GHG emissions across government operations 10% below 2000 levels by 2012. The County is also developing a Community Energy Plan that explores energy generation, distribution, storage, and use in Arlington over the next 40 years.

They encourage the entire community to join them and set specific energy reduction commitments. Use their Contact Us tab to tell them your story or to be added to their distribution list as they continue to expand to other sectors.
